JESUS on fasting

 Matthew 6:16-18

King James Version

16 Moreover when ye fast,

be not, as the hypocrites,

of a sad countenance:

for they disfigure their faces,

that they may appear unto men to fast.

Verily I say unto you,

They have their reward.

17 But thou,

when thou fastest,

anoint thine head,

and wash thy face;

18 That thou appear not unto men to fast,

but unto thy Father which is in secret:

and thy Father,

which seeth in secret,

shall reward thee openly.

That's what JESUS thought of fasting.

Never to call attention to it.

Never even to show people you were fasting.

It's always between you, and GOD.

He never called attention to Himself.

Even as He was the SON of GOD.

His focus was entirely on His ministry.

Such was the humility of CHRIST.

Always calling our attention to the FATHER.

Making sure ALL GLORY belonged to GOD alone.

With the proper context derived from the Isaiah 58:6 verse, we are now ready to learn about "The FREEDOM fast".

And that's for the next post.
